Roger calls a Junior Hockey Game in Kitchener.           

 

 

Roger gets put into a headlock from a fellow guest after appearing on CKCO TV's "The Final Round."  Roger was named the winner of the program in which guests debate local, national, and global issues.  The program aired Sept 13th 2003.  CKCO is a CTV affiliate located in Kitchener, Ontario.

 

Roger and Dave McLleland of OHL Primetime in the 2004 Kitchener-Waterloo Santa Clause Parade.           

 

   Roger Wardell

Roger is the Producer and Anchor for First Local.  It is a daily news program serving Peel Region which includes the cities of Mississauga and Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Roger spent 7-seasons as the television play-by-play voice of the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League.

Roger covered the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League for two seasons.  He has also done the play-by-play for the Toronto Argonauts of the C.F.L. 

 

Career Highlights

Calling the OHL Championship Game May 10, 2003 as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the Ottawa 67's to win the J Ross Robertson Cup.

And

Calling his first CFL game August 8, 2004 at the Skydome between Toronto and Edmonton. 

And

Sept 2000 - Going up in Bill Carter's Pitts Special Acrobatic Plane for a report on CHML Radio leading up to the Hamilton International Air Show. We pulled over 4-G's, did rolls, and loops, and I didn't throw-up. (that's not counting dry heaves!!)(Listen to Roger's Report on the epic Flight!)

And

July 1999 – Spending a day with Walter Gretzky, seeing the inside of the famous Gretzky house, and conducting one on one interviews with Wayne, Keith, and Brent Gretzky for an episode of the television series "Hometown Heroes."

Maple Leafs Reporter – providing reports for the stations newscasts, as well as conducting 1-on-1 interviews for the "Leafs Tonight" pre-game show. 

[2002 - 2004]     Toronto Argonauts, AM640 Radio

Play-by-Play/ Sideline Reporter – during Argonauts broadcasts.  Roger was the sideline Reporter during the 2002 season.  During the 2004 season Roger saw some action in the broadcast booth. 

 

[2005 - Present]  Fight Card Boxing

Executive Producer/Commentator - for this Canadian boxing series.


[1995 – Present]  Kitchener Rangers, Rogers Television

Play-by-Play Commentator – For the Kitchener Rangers of the O.H.L. winning a Rogers “Prix Impressions Award” for Best Sports Coverage.  Roger called the OHL Championship game in 2003.


Host/Play-by-Play – voice of Canadian University Football.


Award Winner – Did the call of the Water-Skiing and Wakeboarding Competitions at the 1998, and 2002 Ontario Summer Games. The coverage of the games won a “National Galaxi Award” in the “Information and Lifestyle” category handed out by the C.C.T.A. with the water-skiing coverage receiving special mention.


Host/Editor/Scriptwriter – of the Series called “Hometown Heroes.” It includes the popular episode on Walter Gretzky.

Play-by-Play Commentator – for the Smoke of the Colonial Hockey League, now known as the United Hockey League.

[1998 - 2000]      Hamilton Bulldogs

Announcer/Game Host - for the Edmonton Oilers Farm Team. Our "Game Day Events and Promotions" were named the “Best in the A.H.L.”



[1994 - 1995]      Strathroy Rockets

Public Address Announcer/Columnist – for this Jr. B Hockey Team run by Pat Stapleton. Roger learned a lot about the game from the former NHL All-star defenceman.
